This selection of ready made packages teach the most popular aspects of underwater video shooting and editing, but we are happy to tailor a more personal one if there are any specialist aspects you would like to focus on. All three courses are modular so you can start on a lower one and continue onto the next one and only pay the difference to progress onwards.

PADI / SSI Specialty

This entry level course is perfect for enthusiastic divers that would like to get great footage from their diving trips. The PADI or SSI Underwater Videographer Specialty course shows you how to create videos that are interesting, entertaining and worth watching again and again.

This 3 day course (4 dives) will show you:

  •           * Selecting, using and caring for your underwater video equipment

  •           * Videography fundamentals, such as · shot types · moves · story line · shot sequencing

  •           * The post-dive editing process where you take your raw footage and assemble your final movie

By the time you complete the course, you'll have gone through the entire basic video production process.

The minimum standard training level for this course is Open Water certified. However we recommend to get the most out of your diving being Advanced Open Water certified, specifically for better buoyancy skills - which is critical for getting good video footage.

If you are only Open Water certified then this PADI specialty can be combined with other PADI training such as Peak Performance Buoyancy. These 2 credits combined with another 3 PADI adventure dives would get you certified as Advanced Open Water at the end of your training and unlock your diving skills properly.

quality video production and training
Semi Pro (Level I)

This Semi Professional training package opens up more of your video making skills. The basics are covered like in the PADI specialty course but with more dives and editing time we show you how to make more interesting and dynamic movies. This course is suitable for dive professionals with good prior photography and computer skills, or keen diving enthusiasts wanting to make quality movies for personal enjoyment.

This 7 day course (8 dives) will show you:

  •           * Selecting, using and caring for underwater video equipment

  •           * Self servicing and maintenance for underwater video equipment

  •           * Videography fundamentals, such as; white balance · correct zoom use · shot types · moves · story line · shot sequencing

  •           * The post-dive editing process where you take your raw footage and assemble your final movie including;
transitions · audio mixing · time effects · colour correction · basic titling

The minimum training level for this course is usually Advanced Open Water certified, however we recommend that to film at this level you should be a Rescue Diver. Our reasons for this are that at this level you will be diving with a camera a lot, and the additional knowledge of DCS and self rescue skills allow you to concentrate on your filming without putting yourself in harms way.

If you are only Advanced Open Water certified it would only take 3 days to become a qualified Rescue Diver before starting the Level I semi-pro video training.

  •

  • Our reasons for this are you will often be working as a full time diving professional and the knowledge and skills acquired in the divemaster programme will make you a valued member of any dive operation you work with. Another reason is that you will often be filming customers with various levels of experience from new students to lapsed divers re-entering the world of scuba.
